Electric Cylinder Actuators

Electric Cylinders The CA range of electric cylinders have been designed with the most demanding of automation tasks in mind and are the first real linear motors to challenge pneumatic devices. They offer long life and much more precise and repeatable force control and positioning than conventional pneumatic devices. The conventional shape and multiple mounting points allow the electric cylinders to be directly retrofitted in most cases.
 

Linear Actuators

Linear Actuators SMAC provides a comprehensive selection of electric linear actuators, ranging from units with 5mm stroke, in a compact unit only 10mm in height, to units with 150mm of stroke length or up to 500N peak force. As with all SMAC actuators, the LAL series linear actuator has the unique ability to enable free and independent control of velocity, position and force simultaneously. Further to this, the SMAC patented "Soft-Land" function is incorporated to allow delicate and controlled force when landing on fragile components.
 

Linear/Rotary Actuators

Linear/Rotary Actuators Combined linear and rotary actuators in one package with either direct drive or gearbox equipped rotary units. They can easily be programmed to control force/torque, position and velocity in all axes at the same time. The actuator has SMAC's unique "Soft-Land" function which enables the unit to gently land on a delicate component with a controlled force to avoid damage of both the component and the actuator. This makes them ideal for applications such as pick and place and assembly.
 

Linear Slide Actuators

Linear Slide Actuators SMAC electric linear slide actuators are compact in overall size and, as with all SMAC actuators, have a combination of force, position and velocity control with feedback. High or low speed and precise positioning with high repeatability make them ideal for applications such as parts feeding, scanning, testing, and measuring in wide range of industries. Linear encoder resolution is 5µm with 1µm, 0.5µm and 0.1µm options available on most models.
 

Gripper Actuators

Gripper Actuators SMAC grippers find use in many markets, one of their key features being the ability to independently control each jaw. The "Soft-Land" technique ensures that fragile components are not harmed.
 

XY Stage Actuators

XY Stage Actuators SMAC recently added to the range of XY systems our smallest stage ever, the LXY10, and a mini XYZ is currently in development.
 

Multi-Axis Actuators

Multi-Axis Actuators SMAC is pleased to introduce its range of Multi–Axis controls solutions. These systems deliver the capability to learn and follow a 3D contour or motion path, with a high degree of speed, precision, accuracy and repeatability. All combinations of SMAC actuators can be used: Linear, rotary and linear/rotary axis.
 

Controllers and Amplifiers

Controllers and Amplifiers SMAC supplies a variety of controllers and amplifiers to support our actuators. The controllers allow code to be stored in non-volatile RAM which is then used to enable movements to be made in three different modes. Linear Rotary Actuators

SMAC provides a comprehensive selection of combined linear and rotary actuators with either direct drive or gearbox equipped rotary units. They can easily be programmed to control force/torque, position and velocity in all axes at the same time. The actuator has SMAC's unique "Soft-Land" function which enables the unit to gently land on a delicate component with a controlled force to avoid damage of both the component and the actuator. This makes them ideal for applications such as pick and place and assembly.

Standard linear resolution on all SMAC actuators is 5µm with 1µm, 0.5µm and 0.1µm options available on most models. The rotary resolution varies between 2,000 to 28,000 counts for gearbox units and 20,000 counts for the direct drive. Higher rotary encoder resolution and alternative geared motors to increase torque/gear ratio are also available. Please contact us with any special requirements you may have.

XY Stages

SMAC provides high-precision and high-speed XY stages, ranging from units with compact overall dimension of only 65mm x 65mm x 81mm. SMAC virtues of a direct drive zero backlash system, which can be controlled with great accuracy and repeatability. SMAC XY stages are equipped as standard with 5µm encoder with options down to 0.05µm encoder resolution for ultra precise positioning and scanning for industries such as bio-science, medical and photonics. They are also used for quality measurement in automotive and other industrial automation applications.

SMAC is pleased to introduce its range of multi-axis controls solutions. These systems are able to learn and follow a 3D contour or motion path, with a high degree of speed, precision, accuracy and repeatability. All combinations of SMAC actuators can be used: linear, rotary and linear/rotary axis.

The systems feature and utilize linear interpolation, which enables a constant speed while following the chosen XYZ axis contour.

Ideal applications are measuring and testing (QC), depositing, machining, scoring and cutting, to name a few. SMAC multi-axis 3D systems are unique - they enable total programmability of speed, position and force all at the same time with an exceptional degree of accuracy and repeatability. SMAC multi-axis systems offer a wide range of solutions with a number of highly flexible control interfaces.

Controllers and Amplifiers

SMAC supplies a range of single and multi-axis controllers together with stand alone amplifiers and stepper driven drivers. Controllers are programmed by mnemonic type command instructions via an RS-232 interface into NVRAM and allows code to be stored in non-volatile RAM, which is then used to enable movements to be made in three different modes. They require no supplementary software.

The LAD1 is used to convert stepper inputs to 3 Amp servo output. This is particularly useful wherever a SMAC unit is retrofitted to or integrated into a stepper-driven machine. RS232 Interface.
 

MIO E-8/8 [MIO 16-R2] Channel I/O Expansion Module

MIO E-8/8
Expansive I/O modual, 8 input, 8 output, Opto-isolated general purpose I/O. If more I/O channels are required, then the MIO can be linked to either the LAC1 or LAC25 to give 16 I/O channels.
