SM2-D1312(IE)-TI6455-XX-GB-12 CMOS DSP Camera
Features
The smart cameras SM2-D1312(IE)-TI6455-XX-GB-12 are based on the Photonfocus CMOS image sensors A12312 and A1312IE. These Photonfocus CMOS sensors with a full well capacity (FWC) of 90 ke- are optimized for high dynamic range applications and a high signal to noise ratio (SNR). In the smart camera SM2-D1312(IE)-TI6455-XX-GB-12 a 1.2 GHz DSP from Texas Instruments (TI) and several interfaces are implemented.
In the development several software and debugging tools could be used. A frame work and examples helps to setup the complete application with the smart camera SM2-D1312(IE)-TI6455-XX-GB-12. For the image processing own software libraries, open source libraries as OpenCV or Halcon Embedded 9.0 from MvTech could be used.

This camera focus on demanding applications in industrial image processing where an embedded system is an alternative to PC system approaches. The camera with LinLog® sensor technology offers an extraordinary wide dynamic range and a high framerate combined with high resolution. Due to the global shutter of the sensor, even high-speed applications with exposure times in the µs-area are possible. The implemented high performance DSP TMS320C6455 from Texas Instruments (TI) enables leading edge applications with this embedded system.
For the software development the TI CodeComposerStudio (CCS) is neccessary. Photonfocus supports the newest version 5.3. The single user license (N01D) could be ordered from the TI homepage. For the first steps the 90day evaluation version (CSS-FREE) could be used which has no restrictions. To program the camera a JTAG adapter is necessary which could be ordered together with camera.
Additional information about the CodeComposerStudio (CCS) from TI:
For debugging of the camera system an emulator is needed. The emulator XDS200 from TI is supported by the CCS. Due to the USB interface this emulator could also be used for developments together with notebooks.

The framework and also the examples for the smart camera are based on CCS 5.x. Photonfocus provides also the source code of the framework to enable fast design-in cycles of user inplementations. There are also examples which does not use the framework. These examples show how to use the basic functions of the camera.
On the SM2 microSD card following items are stored:
all needed files for CCS development (framework, source code, libraries, examples) in a zip file,
camera manual and source code documentation,
VIBFinder.exe, this windows tool finds the connected camera if the user does not know the camera IP address,
tcpdisplay.jar, JavaApplet to connect to camera build-in webserver and
Ethernet.ini, to change the camera IP-address, default address is: 192.168.1.240.
